Grom of the Month >>

Name: Marcus Haywood-Alexander

Age: 15

Hometown: Sheffield

Marcus has deserved the title for Grom of the month for along time! Not only has he improved massivelly over the last year, he also gets involved in everything that goes on in the British Freeski scene and has recently made it on to the podium in the mens youth Big air and halfpipe events at the Brits in Laax Switzerland! Yeah Marcus and sorry for the late profile but here it is at last.

SKI EXPERIENCE
I have been skiing since I was little, Freestyle skiing for 2 and a half years now. Training with Salomon Grom Camps and competed at the Brits 3 years now.

WHERE DO YOU TRAIN
Sheffield mainly, but anywhere I can go I will.

COMP RESULTS AND ACHIEVEMENTS
X-Games Gold, Dew Tour Gold… Joking. Recently got 2nd Youth Mens Halfpipe and 3rd Youth Mens Big Air at the Brits, Laax.

WHY DO YOU LOVE SKIING SO MUCH
It’s a great hobby, keeps off the pounds, an awesome way to meet new people and definitely the best way, for me, to get away from all the stress from school and stuff.

FAVORITE TRICK
Flat 5’s look so nice, but I also love just throwing the biggest floaty 3 mute I can.

FAVORITE SKIERS
Ooh that’s hard, after watching like a gazillion ski movies I can’t possibly say I have a favourite.

HERO's
Iron Man!

WHO ARE YOUR COACHES
At Sheffield we tend to coach each other, which is great because then everyone can learn from each other, but I also get coached by everyone from Salomon Grom Camps.

PLANS FOR THE FUTURE
I really plan on upping my ski game next year, training hard and getting stronger as well. Long-term; I’m heading for Design and Graphics and I definitely want to incorporate that into my love for skiing.

ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO ADD
I am involved in 6ON.4F Productions, a small group from Sheffield: http://www.6on4f.co.uk/ Also, I would like to thank my family and friends for all their support and particularly my family for all their effort to get me around the place and pay for everything.
